Field Application Engineer

Virtual Peaker is looking for a Field Application Engineer that will help solve the climate crisis by supporting our mission of building the utility of the future.  The intermittent nature of wind and solar energy makes it much harder for electric utilities to keep the grid in balance. Renewable energy is going to save humanity, and Virtual Peaker is part of the solution.  The Field Application Engineer will report to the VP of Sales.

Role Responsibilities

As a Sales Engineer/Field Application Engineer, you will support Virtual Peaker’s sales team as the lead technical advisor in helping understand client requirements and how our solution can best deliver. You will liaise with our product and engineering teams to ensure that new product features are understood and provide 360 feedback from new and potential clients.  You can expect to:

  • Consult with existing and potential clients to assess and understand software product needs and systems requirements

  • Draft or assist with the drafting of presentations and other documentation and materials that explain products and services to prospective customers

  • Provide expertise and support to sales teams to communicate products, services, and client needs

  • Propose improved materials or products to customers and explains benefits of changes

  • Assist with research and development of new products

  • Assist in the drafting of proposals and supporting documentation

  • Perform other duties, as assigned, that further aid Virtual Peaker in building the utility of the future

Education & Experience

The candidate will ideally have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, software development, or a related field

  • Two to four years in a role supporting the sale of software as a service (SaaS)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent sales and customer service skills with a proven ability to explain technical products to non-technical audiences

  • Ability to apply engineering, technology, or other related principles to software sales

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficient skills within Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, or related software

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time (Covid dependent)

  • Experience and/or interest in the energy/utility industry is a plus

Base Salary: $80,000 – $90,000

OTE: $100,000 – $120,000

Equity in the company will be provided

Location: Virtual Peaker is a remote-first company and is open to this position being 100% remote.
